SIOUX CITY -- Jean Goldstein of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Louis Memorial Chapel in Kansas City, Mo. Condolences may be sent online to www.louismemorialchapel.com.

Jean Mendelson Goldstein was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo., to Claire and Louis Greenman. She graduated from the University of Missouri.

In 1944, she married Charles Robert Mendelson and lived in Sioux City, where he was employed with Fishgall's Women's Store. They had two children, Bobby and Marilyn. They then moved to Rockford, Ill., where they owned a ladies ready to wear store. Charles passed away in 1961.

In 1973, she met and married Harold Goldstein and returned to Sioux City. They retired to Boca Raton, Fla. They were married for 35 years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Harold; her son, Robert Mendelson of Bronxville, N.Y.; her daughter, Marilyn Mendelson of Overland Park, Kan. and her fiance, James Kornegay; a grandson, Charles Robert Mendelson; a sister, Hortense Brosman; nieces, nephews and cousins; and a sister-in-law. Her second loving family: stepdaughter, Carlynn Donosky of Boynton Beach, Fla. and her children, Jeffery and his wife, Alison and their children, Lily and Natalie of Singapore, Lori and her husband, Ken Jackowitz and their children, Ethan and Mia of Charlotte, N.C.; a stepdaughter and her husband, Suzi and Paul Kaiman of Sioux City and their children, Beth and her husband, Burton Zwick and their children, Sarah, Rebbeca and Zachary of Herrin, Ill., Josh Kaiman of Sioux City and Judd Kaiman of Boulder, Colo.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Congregation Beth Shalom in Sioux City or Girls Inc. in Sioux City.
