SIOUX CITY -- Frances I. Iverson, 84, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 11:15 a.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Sergeant Bluff Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Frances was born April 11, 1924, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Edward and Norma (Flathers) George. She grew up in Fort Dodge, where she attended school.

She married Ardo Raymond Thompson on April 25, 1941. She moved to Sioux City with her son, Edward, in 1944. She had lived here ever since.

She later married Dale J. Iverson in 1953. He passed away in 1976. She worked in several packing houses, Pepsi-Cola, Johnson Biscuit and the Central Kitchen until she retired in 1986.

She was a member of the CIO Union and Riverside Order of the Eastern Star Silver Azure Chapter. She enjoyed cooking and spending time at home.

She is survived by her son, Edward Thompson of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Roxanne Ricks, Stephanie Roberts and Eddie Thompson; four great-grandchildren; and a niece, Peggy George Margaret Jamison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; and two brothers, Edward George in 2002 and Lloyd George in infancy.
