SIOUX CITY -- Gary W. Clausen, 64, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital, after being stricken at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ryan Christenson, Pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow the service Monday. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.

Gary was born Dec. 27, 1944, in Sioux City, to Royle and Marjorie (Albert) Clausen, He attended Whittier School, East Junior High School and graduated from East High School in 1962. He served a four-year apprenticeship for his electrician license.

He married Agnes P. Goergen on Nov. 5, 1966, at St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City. He worked as an electrician for Casler Electric Co. and then for Thompson Electric Co. He became a master electrician and for the last 20 years, he was the electrical foreman for Cargill Inc. He retired in 2006. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.

He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and served on the church board of trustees. He was a member of Morningside Lodge 615 AF & AM and a member of I.B.E.W. Gary was a Boy Scout and then served as a Boy Scout leader for 15 years. He was a hobby farmer and gardener and also restored and collected Farmall tractors. Gary enjoyed fishing. Most of all, he loved his family and especially his granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes "Aggie" Clausen of Sioux City; two children, his son, Michael Clausen of Rochester, Minn., and his daughter and her husband, Michelle and Brent Rosendahl of Sioux City, "We love you, dad"; his granddaughter, Abigail "Little Abby" Rosendahl, whom he loved very much; his parents, Royle and Marjorie (Albert) Clausen of Sioux City; three sisters and their husbands, Linda and Steve Camarigg of Sioux City, Kathy and Larry Bates of Sioux City, and Carol and Bill Spencer of San Jose, Calif.; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claus and Elsie Clausen; his maternal grandfather, Robert Albert; his maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Bessie and Elsen Brown; and his uncle, Bernard Clausen.

Pallbearers will be Steve Camarigg, Larry Bates, Lawrence Gansko, Lonnie Stuhr, Larry Clausen and Ron Clausen.

Memorials in his name may be directed to St. James United Methodist Church.
