SERGEANT BLUFF -- Robert C. Christensen of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away after a massive stroke Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in San Diego with his family by his side. He lived life, enjoying every day, always the one to lend a hand. Family, friends and fishing were his passions, only the fish will be glad to know he is no longer with us.

Private services were held.

Bob was born Dec. 17, 1949, in Sioux City. He lived in Sioux City and Sergeant Bluff, graduating from Sergeant Bluff High School in 1970. He joined the U.S. Navy, returning to marry his high school sweetheart, Candy Swanson (Foley) and along came Robert Jr. After a few years, their lives changed, but their friendship and love for Robert Jr. never waned. He served 24 years in the U.S. Navy, traveling the world and serving his country. He retired in 1994 to enjoy life to the fullest, which he did.

His second love, Nancy Bridewell, he met by fate in San Diego in July 1991. From the day they met until his death they were inseparable. Their constant argument ended with Bob's death; he finally won, "He loved her more."

He is survived by his son, Robert Jr. and companion, Randi Petty of Portland, Ore.; his soul mate/companion, Nancy Bridewell and Snowball (his furry son) of San Diego; his uncle, Everett Christensen of Sergeant Bluff; brothers, Neil and Mark of Sergeant Bluff; an aunt and uncle, Mary and Kenneth Sandefer of Miles City, Mont.; his adopted daughter and son, Laura Stevenot (Robert Boals) and James Bridewell; his beloved grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Stephanie Martin (Matt Ojeda), Anthony Baugh, Brittany and Emily Stevenot; his adopted mom, Susie Albers; and numerous family and friends across the world.

"Chris, Bob, Dad, Grandpa" no regrets, you and Bear are always in our hearts and memories. We all are better because of your unconditional love, kindness and allowing us to share your life with you.
