25 January 2009SIOUX CITY -- Sergio Vazquez-Hurtado, 28, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at a local hospital following a car accident.
A funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church, with Father Matthew Hewitt officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, 822 Jennings St.
Sergio was born Nov. 20, 1980, in San Miguel, El Alto, Mexico, the son of Agustin and Ricarda (Hurtado) Vazquez.
Sergio was a hard-working man, taking pride in all he did. He also loved to spend time with his daughters and family. He was a construction crew leader for Diamond Construction for about eight years.
He is survived by his father, Agustin Vazquez; his mother, Ricarda Vazquez-Hurtado; his wife, Ivy Ashlock; a son, Brandon Bruhn; three daughters, Jaydan and Zandrea "Carli" Vazquez and Haylee Ashlock; four brothers, Leobardo, Guillermo, Rodrigo and Ricardo; nine sisters, Hermelinda, Maria Elena, Olivia, Maria Luisa, Celina, Elvira, Gabina, Maria Guadalupe and Hilda Patricia; and several close friends, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
