SIOUX CITY -- Charlotte Pamelia Fagerhaug, 84, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at a care facility in Omaha, Neb., where she was recovering from botulism since December 2007. In July 2008, she was diagnosed with lung cancer although she was a non-smoker.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Charlotte was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Renner, S.D., to Raymond and Elizabeth (Wall) Allis. She grew up on farms in the Renner and Sioux Falls, S.D., area, graduating from Washington High School in Sioux Falls.

She married Norris Fagerhaug on March 6, 1947, in Sioux Falls. After their marriage, they moved to Sioux City and had been residents here ever since. Norris passed away Dec. 11, 1992. When Charlotte was in Sioux Falls, she was employed with Sioux Falls Gas Company (now MidAmerican Energy). After she moved to Sioux City, she was employed with Wincharger and Tupperware.

Charlotte was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, MLCW and the Priscilla Circle. For more than 30 years, she coordinated the purchase of materials for school and health kits. She belonged to the Scandinavian Societies and Nordic Chorus Auxiliary. Charlotte enjoyed watching birds from her balcony, taking photos, hosting family gatherings and playing cards with C.R.E.W.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Fagerhaug of St. Paul, Minn.; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Rich Runyon of Cheney, Wash., Cyndi and Chuck Swenson of Sioux City, and Joni and Mark Finney of Missoula, Mont.; 10 grandchildren, Brandon and Sarah Swenson of Olathe, Kan., Damon and Janice Swenson of Morristown, N.J., Nicole Swenson of West Palm Beach, Fla., Jenny, Tanner and Trevor Finney of Missoula, Mont., Erin and Keelan Dobbins of Cheney, Wash., Jamie and Adam Weingart of Spokane, Wash., and Ann and Daniel Fagerhaug of St. Paul, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Jake, Logan, Madelynn and Reuel Norris; a brother and his wife, Lester and Donna Allis of Sioux Falls; a sister, Elsie Hanks of Lakewood, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Merle (Lillian) Johnson of Yankton, S.D.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Don and Margaret Fagerhaug of Rocky River, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris; a son, Keith; her parents; a brother, Lewis Allis; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Fagerhaug.
