SIOUX CITY -- Ruth D. Norris, 83, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at her home.

Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Ruth was born in Sioux City on Jan. 2, 1926, the daughter of Floyd and Marjorie "Dolly" (Wilcox) Myers. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City, and graduated from Central High School in 1943. On June 15, 1944, she married George D. Norris in Sioux City. She was a member of the Methodist faith.

Ruth enjoyed golfing, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She loved watching the wildlife from the windows of her home and building warm fires in the fireplace. What she loved most was spending time with her husband, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, George of Sioux City; three sons, Randy of Illinois, Mike and Mary of Mankato, Minn., and Greg and Gloria of Richmond, Texas; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
