William D. “Bill” McAllister, 74 of Sioux City died Monday, February 11, 2002 at a Sioux City hospital following a sudden illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kathy Wicks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson- Berger Northside Chapel.

Mr. McAllister was born January 13, 1928 in Decatur, Nebraska, the son of William and Pearl (Little) McAllister. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1949, stationed aboard the USS Craig in the Pacific.

He married Eunice A. Thorson on June 17, 1950, in Sioux City. He was employed with Iowa Public Service/Mid American Energy, retiring in 1990 after 40 years of service.

He was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church, where he participated in the church activities. He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationing with friends. He also enjoyed gardening, woodcraft and care for his home and yard.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice of Sioux City; five sons, Steven McAllister and his wife, Shannon of Spencer, Iowa, Craig McAllister of Moorhead, Iowa, Jeffrey McAllister and his wife, Sandy of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Timothy McAllister of Sioux City and Daniel McAllister and his wife, Lanelle of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two brothers and their wives, N. Paul and Beverly McAllister of Sioux City and Don and Jean McAllister of Branson, Missouri; a sister and her husband, Ella and Steve Serbeck of Mesa, Arizona; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Rachel, Whitney, Joshua, Kelly, Molly, Anna and Connor McAllister and a sister-in-law, Marilyn McAllister of Dunlap, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pauline and two brothers, Jerry “Nan” and Carol McAllister.

Pallbearers will be George Carlson, Glen Houts, Garrett Anfinson, Marty Buss, Dewain Farvel and Richard Rupe.
