ANTHON, Iowa - Marvin P. Jansen, 85, of Anthon died July 14, 2009, in Des Moines, Wash.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Andrew Carlson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, rural Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.
Marvin Peter Jansen was born July 8, 1924, to Peter and Elsie Jansen in Anthon. He attended and graduated from school in Anthon.

He married Marjorie Goodman and had four children. They farmed in the Anthon area until getting into the John Deere Equipment business in Anthon.

He married Wanda Thayer, who had two children. They moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, where he worked in the local hardware store. They retired in Camano Island, Wash., where Wanda lost her battle with cancer.

He married Mickie Vail, who had three children. They moved to Anderson, Calif., where they purchased a fifth wheel and hit the road. They worked in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and South Dakota as camp hosts. Mickie lost her battle with cancer just this last December.

He is survived by his sister, Betty (John) Lavigne of Little Canada, Minn.; daughters, Marsha Jansen of St. Peter, Mo., Lauren Jansen of Sioux City, Nancy (Bruce) Rayl of Burien, Wash., and Sherri (Randy) Quandt of Sioux City; stepdaughters, Victoria Knudsen of Glendale, Ariz., Kim (Ed) Sales of Snoqualmie, Wash., Karen (Charlie) Knowles of Richmond, Ky., Dee (Danny) Shannon of Montaque, Calif., and Shae (Glen) Evenson of Olympia, Wash.; 27 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
