CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Mary A. Mitchell, 75, of Correctionville died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Private graveside services will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mary Ann Mitchell was born Oct. 26, 1933, to G.H. "Jack" Deeds and Florence (Alfredson) Deeds in Anthon, Iowa. She graduated from Anthon High School in 1952 and worked for Pitkin Drug Store in Anthon for three years. She lived in Vermillion, S.D. from 1957 to 1967, then moved to Correctionville. She was an Avon representative for 20 years.

She wed Neal Mitchell on Dec. 2, 1955. To this union two sons, Dana and Darlo, were born.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, U. Go I. Go Bridge Club and Town and Country Women's Club.

Survivors include her husband, Neal; a son, Dana (Shelley); four grandchildren, Chris (Brandie), Tenille, Ben and Katie; four great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Brian Nielsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Darlo; her sisters, Margie Castle and Betty Hubbard; and a niece, Catherine Vargas.
