ANTHON, Iowa -- Frederick A. Heinse, 83, of Anthon died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Correctionville (Iowa) Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, with the Rev. Andrew Carlson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery at Midway, rural Battle Creek, Iowa, with military rites conducted by the American Legion McNiff Post 389 of Anthon. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Frederick Andrew Heinse was born June 21, 1925, in Danbury, Iowa, the son of William and Carrie (Hanson) Heinse. He grew up and lived on the family farm where he was born. He proudly served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army in the Pacific sector. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to farm the family farm.

On May 20, 1951, he married Jeanette Hladik in Anthon. They moved to Las Vegas, Nev. in 1982 and returned to Anthon in 2001.

He enjoyed playing cards, especially 500. He really enjoyed flying.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jeanette; three daughters, Laura and her husband, Richard Beery of Denver, Iowa, Roman and her husband, Robert Olson of El Reno, Okla., and Dorothy Zeitler of Madison, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Ed and Lucille Heinse of Anthon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Fred Jr.; a brother; and two sisters.

Memorials may be directed to Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center, 1116 East Highway 20, Correctionville, IA.
