SIOUX CITY -- Mildred C. Walcott, 89, of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Memorial services will be 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating. Private graveside services will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Mildred was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Rock Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Philip and Juliana (Minnaert) Wyffels. She graduated from Morningside College with a teaching degree. After attending Morningside College, she lived in Sioux City for the rest of her life. She was employed by the Sioux City Community School District as a teacher her entire career. She was a first grade teacher at Clark Elementary School for 30 years.

She married Charles Walcott on Dec. 27, 1967, in Sioux City. He died Sept. 26, 1995.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Delta Kappa Gamma Education Sorority.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; six sisters; and two brothers.

Memorials may be directed to Holy Spirit Retirement Home or the Clark School for first grade reading.
