CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Eveline Sophia Dunn, 102, of Aurelia, Iowa, formerly a longtime Correctionville area resident, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia.

Private family services will be held Thursday, with the Rev. Magrey deVega officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Condolences may be sent online to www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Eveline was born Oct. 2, 1906, in rural Cherokee, to Walter and Cecilia (Nystedt) Rasmus. She was baptized at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1925. She attended Grinnell College for two years and received a teaching certificate. She taught in a one-room school in Cherokee County for a short time.

She married Raymond W. Dunn on May 15, 1929, in Cherokee. They couple lived on a farm east of Correctionville for more than 40 years. She helped with the Cushing (Iowa) High School Music Boosters and enjoyed the Cushing Ladies Birthday Club monthly meetings.

She enjoyed vacations with family, dancing, crocheting, trips across the United States and visits to her son while he was in the U.S. Navy stationed in Spain. The most important part of her life was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Dianne and Phil Anderson of Cherokee; a son and his wife, Larry and Patricia Dunn of Severn, Md.; six grandchildren and spouses, Mark and Christina Ferrin, Scott and Jane Ferrin, Michelle Ferrin, Susan and Mark Friedman, Bill Dunn and Kristin Dunn; six great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; great-step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Dunn of Meriden, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond on Dec. 5, 1993; a son-in-law, David Ferrin; a brother and his wife, Clarence and Faye Rasmus; and a sister and her husband, Florence and Arvid Gustafson.
