21 April 2008Eleanor Williams, 93, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Northern Hills Assisted Living, following a short illness.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. Order of Eastern Star service, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Eleanor was born on Aug. 25, 1914, in Sioux City, the daughter of Andrew and Ida (Methlie) Wilhelmson. She graduated from Central High School in 1932.
She married Valoris W. Williams on Oct. 12, 1940. He died on May 9, 1960, in Sioux City. Eleanor was employed as a bookkeeper for the Sioux City Water Department from 1934 to 1948. She worked as a bookkeeper and branch manager for Diamond Labs from 1960 to 1970. She then worked for Jack Dam's Reality until 1979, when she retired. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.
She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, Order of Eastern Star, Azure Chapter and Girls of '68. Eleanor enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy V. and Lynn Williams of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Dean Williams of Columbia, S.C., Anne Roley and her husband, Gary of Brevard, N.C., and Stephen Lazich, Mallori Lazich and Peter Lazich, all of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Esther Van Waart of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Mildred Strohbeen.
Memorials may be directed in her name to Hospice of Siouxland or Morningside Lutheran Church.
