12 November 2008SIOUX CITY -- Howard Richard Reuschling, 73, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Crescent Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Scott Squires officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Howard was born March 24, 1935, in Sioux City, the son of Fred and Hazel (Searcu) Reuschling. He graduated from Central High School in June 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1952 and was called into active duty from Dec. 12, 1956 to Dec. 19, 1958.
He married Dianne F. Conway on Aug. 23, 1959, in Sioux City. They lived in Sibley and Le Mars, Iowa, before settling in Sioux City in 1964. He worked as a food broker for Premier Marketing until retiring in June 1997.
He was a 53-year member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church. A big part of his life was spending time at his trailer on Round Lake in Minnesota. There, the couple met wonderful, lifelong friends. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Reuschling; a son, Rick Reuschling and his special friend, Lori Nyreen, of Sioux City, and his son, Rick Reuschling Jr. and his wife, Whitney, of Indianapolis; identical twin daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Russ Hauser and her sons, Jeff Morehead and his wife, Heather, and Chad Morehead, all of Akron, Iowa, and Becky and Scott Morehead and their sons, Marcus Morehead and Mathew Morehead, all of Westfield, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hazel Reuschling; a brother, Frank Reuschling; a brother-in-law, Byrnes Johnson; and two sisters-in-law, Terry Reuschling and Nancy Conway Luikart.
Memorials may be made in his name to Crescent Park United Methodist Church, Hospice of Siouxland or We Care Wheelchair Inc.
