SIOUX CITY -- Marlyn W. Haney, 79, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Craig Boch officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Marlyn was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Bronson, Iowa, to Merritt and Ayleen (Wilson) Rowe. She graduated from Bronson High School.

She was united in marriage to Robert Haney on Oct. 1, 1949, in Luverne, Minn. Besides being a homemaker, Marlyn was a preschool teacher and past treasurer at St. Luke Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed knitting, golfing, wintering in Yuma, Ariz., where she loved getting together with friends to golf. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her husband. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Haney of Sioux City; three daughters, LaRae (Tom) Luettgen of Coweta, Okla., Kris (Richard) Weber of Marcus, Iowa, and Patty (Perry) Hegstrom of Moberly, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
