SIOUX CITY -- Earl L. Keil, 82, of Sioux City went to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Assembly of God Church, with the Revs. Joshua Potter and William Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Earl was born Feb. 28, 1926, near Allen, Neb., the son of Augustus and Etta Keil. He grew up on the family farm in the Sand Hills of Nebraska and attended rural school.

He married Arlene Johnson on July 28, 1946, in Ponca, Neb. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1947. He worked for and retired from Metz Bakery after 25 years of service. He also had many business ventures which included a Dairy Sweet in South Sioux City, a gas station in Merrill, Iowa, and a few different car lots, all in South Sioux City. On two different occasions, he found time to build homes for his family.

The two most important things in his life were God and his family. Making memories with their family was a priority for the couple. Their grandchildren remember spending many memorable summers camping, boating and fishing with their grandparents. He enjoyed carpentry, working on cars and in his later years, drinking coffee with his friends.

Those left behind include his three sons, Douglas and his wife, Cindy of Denver, Colo., Dennis of Sioux City, and Terry "Joe" and his wife, Hae Gee of Bruner, Mo.; brothers and their wives, Horace and Zola of O'Neill, Neb., Paul and Maxine of Plattsmouth, Neb., Bernard and Faith of Allen, Neb., and Bill and Joyce of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Jennifer, Christopher, Grady, Melissa, Alicia and Joseph; and seven great-grandchildren, James, Evan, Brady, Graham, Colby, Castin and Reagan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene; his sister, Helen Bouvoin; and a half brother, Paul Tynan.

Earl was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends.
