LE MARS, Iowa -- Shirley E. Reuter, 83, of Le Mars passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jan Christensen presiding. Inurnment will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville, Iowa. Relatives and friends may gather at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m.

Shirley Ellys Reuter was born on March 16, 1925 in Moville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Pearle Mace. She attended school in Moville and graduated from Moville High School, among the class of 1942. Following high school, Shirley furthered her education at Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb., where she attained an elementary education degree. From 1940-1945, Shirley was employed on the Ration Board in Moville and at the Sioux City Army-Air Force Base.

Upon completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1969 from Morningside College, Shirley taught school for 19 years in the Lawton, Moville and Sergeant Bluff Elementary Schools. She retired in 1976.

On July 21, 1946, in Moville, Shirley was united in marriage to Harry G. Junck. After numerous years as residents of Moville, Shirley and Harry moved to Sergeant Bluff in 1966. They were the proud parents of three children, Patricia, Michael and Monte. Harry died on Oct. 23, 1978.

Shirley married Anthony P. Reuter in September of 1982 in Bloomington, Minn. Together, they built a home in Le Mars. Anthony passed away on Jan. 23, 1995.

Shirley was a devoted member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ, where she loved singing in the church choir and was an active member of the Morning Circle. Some of Shirley's other interests included playing golf and bridge, embroidering dish towels and reading. She had a passion for playing the piano and was very active in the Le Mars Women's Golf Association. Shirley loved to travel and fondly recalled her time spent vacationing in Europe and Australia.

Shirley will be dearly missed by all who have shared in her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Neubrand of Bangkok, Thailand; her two sons and their wives, Michael and Patricia Junck of Orlando, Fla., and Monte and Susan Junck of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her four grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Marilynn Keuck and her husband, Vern of Denison, Iowa and Joyce Schutt and her husband, Clarence of Nashville, Tenn.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Junck and Anthony Reuter; and her parents, George and Pearle Mace.
