Gary Carl Rosenberger, 68, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at his residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Spaulding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Gary Rosenberger was born July 7, 1938, in Sioux City, the son of F.O. Whitey and Kathlyn (Abbey) Rosenberger. He was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School. He went to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. and graduated from Iowa State University.

He served in the U. S. Navy from 1964 to 1972. He was a fighter pilot and flew A-4s and F-8s. His Naval career included two tours of duty aboard the USS Hancock and he flew missions over Vietnam. He was credited with 259 night carrier landings and many, many missions.

On Aug. 23, 1959, he was united in marriage to Connie Moss in Sioux City. Together, they raised their three children. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1975. After graduating from college, he was a high school teacher and coach in Lyle, Minn. He was a chiropractor at Rosenberger Chiropractic for more than 15 years before retiring. Recently, he was working as a part-time instructor at the Little Priest Tribal College in Winnebago, Neb.

He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. His true loves in his life were his wife, children and grandchildren. He was also passionate about teaching, flying, fishing, golfing and loved telling stories.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Rosenberger of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Gaye and Tom Kirchoff of Clear Lake, Minn.; two sons, Kirk Rosenberger of Sioux City and Gregg Rosenberger and his wife, Stacey of Keller, Texas; a sister, Mary St. Onge of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Christo Kirchoff and K.T. Rose Kirchoff, both of Clear Lake, Minn., and Morgan Rosenberger and Teagan Rosenberger, both of Keller, Texas; and a huge and loving extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Rosenberger.
