6 April 2008Mina "Grandma" Moore, 94, of Sioux City was called to heaven on Friday, April 4, 2008.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Willman Chapel in Rodney, Iowa, with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery Township, Rodney. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mina was born in Rodney on Aug. 10, 1913, to Hiram and Edith (Carmen) Hollister. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1932 and was the valedictorian of her graduating class. Mina married Roy Moore in Storm Lake, Iowa, on March 1, 1935. Roy passed away on Dec. 6, 1969.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Guy Lombardo, Lawrence Welk, family, grandchildren and having family get-togethers.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Babb of Sioux City; a son, Douglas Moore and wife, Mary of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Kathy Babb, Teresa Krisl, Kevin Babb and wife, Kate, Todd Babb, Kim Nielsen and husband, Bill and Terri Calvillo, all of Sioux City, Michelle Talamates and Brenda Applehans and husband, Ron, all of Denver, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Josh, Levi, Troy, Hope, Jeremy, Thad, Jenny, Christina, Chad, Brandon, Nathan, Michael and Jon; great-great-grandchildren; Faith, Alexis, Dylan, Isabella, Gary, Taylor, Christian, Cameron, Michael Jr., Daniel, Luana, Sabrina Sierra and Jalesa Janee; a sister, Dorothy Thayer of Storm Lake, Iowa; nieces, nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl; sisters, Lela, Margie and Elsie; brothers, Hiram Jr. and Orville; several brother and sisters-in-laws; and several nieces and nephews.
