Donald H. Dickerson, 68, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Sunday, April 20, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will be cremated. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery at Belle Plaine, Iowa, with the Rev. Robert P. Leiness officiating. Harbak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine is in charge of the graveside services.

Mr. Dickerson was born March 4, 1929, in Belle Plaine, the son of Vanus and Bertha (Fisher) Dickerson. He was raised and attended school in Belle Plaine and Harwick, Iowa.

He married Evelyn Boyd of Marshalltown, Iowa in 1946.

He moved to the Sioux City area in 1960. He was self-employed and traveled extensively in the timber industry.

He married Margaret Jensen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1974.

Mr. Dickerson enjoyed singing and playing his guitar at area nursing homes.

Survivors include two sons, Don D. of San Luis Obispo, California and Allen R. and his wife, Shelly of Delevan, Illinois; a daughter, Diane Minter of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Paul and Veneta of Couch, Md., a half- sister, Margaret Bartlett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a half-brother and his wife, Jack and Mary Eirp of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a special friend, Valerie and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Denny and a brother-in-law, William Bartlett.
