HOMER, Neb. -- Faye M. Lauritsen, 85, of Homer died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Homer, with Vicar Randy Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.

Faye was born Nov. 24, 1919, in rural Hubbard, Neb., the daughter of John C. and Clara (Larsen) Jensen. She graduated from Homer High School and attended the Sioux City Cosmetology College.

She married Norman E. Lauritsen on Sept. 15, 1940, in Homer. Norman died April 6, 2005, in Sioux City. She helped farm with her husband in the Homer area until 1962. She became a licensed insurance agent and was co-owner of Lauritsen Insurance in Homer and served as a member of Professional Insurance Agents.

She was a cook with the Homer school for four years and was very active in 4-H and the Cub Scouts. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Women of The Church. She was one of the first women to become a juror in Dakota County. She loved to travel with her husband, visiting Denmark three times, as well as trips to Alaska and Hawaii. She took various trips with her husband each year.

She enjoyed watching golf on television and playing golf. She also loved gardening, fishing, baking, the outdoors and camping. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be missed by many.

Survivors include two sons, Rick Lauritsen and his wife, Barbara of Homer and Gary Lauritsen of Upland, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Sheryl and Robert Andera of Lake Poinsett, S.D.; her twin sister and her husband, May and Bernard Stoner of Homer; six grandchildren, Kelly and Brett Lauritsen, Leslie Smoot, Paula Breese, Lana Medved and Justin Lauritsen; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; a sister, Erna Longwell; and two grandchildren, Corey Dunlap and Lorea Lauritsen.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Kelly, Brett, Justin and Lori Lauritsen, Leslie and her husband, William Smoot, Paula and her husband, William Breese, and Lana and her husband, Lance Medved.
