June Claire (Rowe) Schroeder, 79, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at her residence following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Morningside Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Roger D. Graf officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Silver Lake Cemetery, Lake Park, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

June was born, June 5, 1926, in Lake Park, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Hazel (Crissey) Rowe. She attended and graduated from high school in 1943. She attended the Cedar Falls Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She later obtained her bachelor of arts degree in Mankato, Minn., in 1965 and her master's degree in 1973.

She was united in marriage to Donald Schroeder on May 26, 1943, in Lake Park. He passed away Jan. 18, 1999, in Sioux City. She was a life long teacher and taught in the Spirit Lake, Iowa school for 29 years.

She was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, worked in the library and a member of the church circle. She enjoyed family, friends and teaching.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Don and Deb Schroeder of Lake Park Iowa; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Amy Little of Sergeant Bluff, Jason Ponto of Elk Point, S.D., Michelle Nienkerk of Centenial, Colo., Elizabeth Erne of Lake Park, Erin Schroeder of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Kevin Butcher of Casper, Wyo., and Andrew Butcher of Casper; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Roy H. Schroeder; a daughter, Ann M. Butcher; a brother, Kenneth Rowe; and an aunt, Leona Hollander.
