Betty A. Mitzner, 84, of Sioux City died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Morningside Nursing and Rehab following a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Renee Spaulding officiating. Private family graveside services will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Betty Arlene Grindberg was born March 12, 1921, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Peter and Emma (Cernolavek) Grindberg. She was a lifetime resident of Sioux City. She graduated from Sioux City East High School.

She married Gailord Mitzner on Nov. 1, 1941, at Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Gailord Mitzner of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Marcia and Gerald Fisher of Sioux City and Gayle-ann and Roger Douglas of Crete, Neb.; five grandchildren and spouses, Michael and Terri Fisher of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jane and John Olson of Sioux City, Jill and Brad Robbins of Overland Park, Kan., Robb Douglas of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joy Mace of Lincoln, Neb.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, William and Jon Mitzner.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Michael Fisher, Jane Olson, Jill Robbins, Robb Douglas and Joy Mace.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the donor's choice.
