Darlene Adele Dean, 75, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Del Olivier of Augustana Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Heisler Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dean was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence C. and Leona C. (Paulsen) Etchison. She attended schools in both Mapleton and Sioux City.

She married Wilbur W. "Bill" Dean on Dec. 20, 1946. The couple resided in Mapleton and Rock Falls, Ill., prior to moving to Sioux City. Bill preceded her in death on April 16, 2004, in Sioux City.

She was baptized in the Church of Christ in Mapleton at the age of 11. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, ceramics, porcelain, canning and baking. She also enjoyed raising and selling canaries.

Survivors include two daughters, Leanna Taubert of Sioux City and Deborah Osterholt of McCook Lake, S.D.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; special friends, Arthur Osterholt of Sioux City and Robert and Sharon Allen of McCook Lake, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Osterholt, Tracy Wallace, Matthew Larsen, William Hinkel, Dillon Wallace and Zachary Ross.
