Donald C. Gould, 82, of Sioux City, formerly of Newcastle, Neb., died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Neb., with Pastor Dennis Ritchey of Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial will be at Silver Ridge Cemetery, rural Ponca. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family present at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Donald was born Aug. 22, 1922, in rural Newcastle, the son of Fredrick L. and Kathryn (Johnson) Gould. He attended Newcastle High School.

He married Mary Dougherty on April 15, 1972.

He worked as a trucker and farm laborer for many years around the Newcastle area. He retired from farming in 1994 and moved to Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Calvin and Joann Gould of Little Falls, Minn.; three sisters, Viola Birkley of Ponca, Hazel and her husband, Dudley Blatchford, of Laurel, Neb., and Jewell and her husband, Harley Humes, of Salina, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin and Max Gould; and a brother-in-law, Roy Birkley.
