SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Larry D. Lange, 64, of South Sioux City, young farmer, welder, woodman, antique tractor restorer, awesome husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

In accordance with Larry's wishes, he has been cremated and there will be no visitation or church services. A private family graveside service will be Tuesday, Feb. 8, in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery at Pender, Neb. A celebration of Larry's life will be 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, directly across the road from Larry's home, for family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Larry was born May 25, 1940, in Coleridge, Neb., the son of Joe and Clara (Lee) Lange. He was raised in the Belden, Neb. area, where he farmed with his parents.

He married Verna M. Case on June 19, 1960, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. The couple resided in South Sioux City since 1960. Larry worked for Wilson Trailer Co., Concrete Pipe Co. and Bridgeport Corp., where he retired in 1995 as construction supervisor.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Verna; a son, Gary and his wife, Mary, and grandchildren, Megan and Kelsey of Springfield, Neb.; a son, Gayle, and granddaughter, Brooke, of Brooksville, Ky.; a daughter, Jodi of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Norma Brockmoller of Winside, Neb; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for a kidney patient or to the family.
