M. Leone Skelton, 90, of Sioux City died Monday, February 7, 2005 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary B. Snyder officiated. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Elk Point, South Dakota. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. today, with a 4 p.m. rosary recited by Catholic Daughters of America, and a parish vigil service at 5:30 p.m. at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

The former Mary Leone O’Leary was born on March 12, 1914, in Elk Point, the daughter of James and Sarah (White) O’Leary. She came to Sioux City in 1932 and lived here until 2001, when she moved to Ankeny, Iowa, for a year. She returned to Sioux City in 2002. Leone was employed as a cook for St. Joseph Catholic Grade School. She was then employed as an accountant for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and then as a cook and housekeeper for the priest residence at Heelan High School. She retired in 1988.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ave Maria Court 269 of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Secular Institute of Woman, the Holy Spirit Community and the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Donald and Carol of Elgin, Illinois and Dennis and Gin of Ankeny; a daughter-in-law, Connie Skelton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 10 grandchildren, Jim, Bob, Michael, Michelle, Matthew, Jayson, Christopher, Shawn, Daniel and Stephen Skelton, and four great- grandchildren, Kayla, Patrick, Dylan and Sophia Skelton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert and two brothers, Raymond and Leo O’Leary.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Skelton, Christopher Skelton, Stephen Skelton, Bobby Skelton, Jimmy Skelton and Michelle Skelton.

Memorial in her name may be directed to Holy Spirit Community of Sioux City.
