The deceased man was 50 years of age and unmarried. He was born in Wellsville, Ohio and came to Sioux City with his father, A. M. Haley and other members of the family, in 1868.

A. M. Haley started a machine works on the present site of the Shenkberg building on Third and Pierce Streets and his sons, when they grew up were associated with him.
