Mrs. Dan McDonald Dies Suddenly Today

Pioneer Resident of City Succumbs to Brief Illness This Afternoon

Mrs. Donald McDonald, a resident of Sioux City for 47 years and prominent in church circles, died suddenly this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at her residence, 1005 west Nineteenth Street, following an illness of less than three days’ duration. She was 62 years old.

Mrs. McDonald was taken sick Thursday evening and although she was confined to her bed, it was not thought that her illness was in any way serious. She appeared to be in an improved condition today up to the time that she suffered a severe relapse at about 1:30 o’clock. She died within a few minutes after the attack. It is thought that death was caused by heart trouble.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four children. They are: Duncan J. McDonald of Calgary, Canada; Mrs. Margaret Garey of Leeds and Miss Helen and Louise McDonald who live at home, a number of sisters and brothers also survive.

Mrs. McDonald was born in New York, May 30, 1849. She came west as a child, going first to Sergeant Bluff. Her maiden name was Ella Brower. She came to Sioux City in 1865 and had resided here continuously since then.

Mrs. McDonald was an active member of the First Congregational Church and devoted much of her time to the service of the church.

The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
