David K. Larimer Is Dead: Illness short

Telegraph Editor of the Tribune Called By Sudden Bright’s Disease

David K. Larimer, telegraph editor of The Tribune, died last evening at 5:50 o’clock at St. Vincent’s hospital of acute Bright’s disease, succumbing to an illness of a week’s duration. Mr. Larimer suffered the attack last Saturday and was removed to the hospital on Monday. His condition had been critical for several days, having sunk into a state of coma, which remained until the end. A change for the better was noted Friday, and his end came as a shock, even through a relapse came late in the afternoon. He was 36 years old and was unmarried.

Mr. Larimer had lived in Sioux City for about the last two and one-half years, during which time he had made a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He was a member of the Hawkeye club.

As a newspaper man, he had a wide range of experience. His home was in Spokane, Washington, where his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Larimer, and two sisters reside. He had worked on the Spokesman-Review in that city, the Portland Oregonian, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Tribune, of Salt Lake City, and the Omaha Bee. He came to Sioux City in August 1909, to enter the service of The Tribune.

Mr. Larimer was actively concerned in politics and had reported the sessions of seven legislatures. He was one of the best authorities in Iowa on economic and political topics and read nearly every book in print in this country on such subjects and was a contributor to current publications devoted to public questions. He was a regular contributor also to the editorial columns of The Tribune.

Brief funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock in the Westcott chapel and the body will be sent to Spokane for burial. Rev. Wallace M. Hamilton, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services here.
