Death Ends Troubles of Unfortunate Man
Chas. D. Londees, a Charity Patient, Said to Be a College Graduate

Death last night closed the unfortunate career of Charles D. Londees, a laborer, who had resided in Sioux City for 30 years. The end followed a series of depressing events. He was 77 years old.

Londees was dismissed from the county poor farm about three weeks ago. On the day following his release, he slipped and fell on the icy pavement, suffering a fractured collar bone. He was taken to a local hospital and dismissed from there after a single day’s treatment. Less than a week ago, he was stricken seriously ill with heart trouble and again was taken to a hospital, where he died last night.

Little is known of Londees early life. He has no relatives in Sioux City. Friends here say that he was born in Boston and was a graduate from a large eastern college. They assert that there was an early romance in Londees life, which changed his entire career. He was a cabinet maker by trade but labored at odd jobs around Sioux City for many years.
