Jonathan B. Green Dies Of Sudden Heart Failure

Jonathan Bogue Green, 2118 Jones Street, father of Mrs. W. L. Steele of this City died of heart failure at 7 O’clock this morning after a brief illness.

Mr. Green’s death was quite unexpected. He had been down town only two days ago.

Mr. Green came to Sioux City a year ago. He had been president of the Fayette County Bank, Ramsey, Illinois, since 1894. For a number of years he had been in the hardware business in Champaign, Illinois. Mr. Green was born at Ipava, Illinois, March 7, 1841. In 1862 he enlisted with Company B, 84th Illinois infantry, in which regiment he remained until mustered out. In 1863 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant major.

Mr. Green was married June 14, 1871 to Miss Sallie Raymond of Champaign, who still survives him, with three daughters, Josephine, Jane and Mrs. W. L. Steele of Sioux City and one son, N.R. Green of Ramsey, Illinois.

The body will be sent to Champaign tomorrow for interment. The funeral services will be in charge of the G.A.R. post at that place.
