Former Sioux City Ball Player Dies In South

Terre Haute, Indiana, April 18 – “Ace” Stewart, one-time member of the Chicago National league baseball club and a native of Terre Haute, died here yesterday, aged 43.

Stewart played with the Sioux City Cornhuskers in 1894, when the local team won the pennant. His position was on second base and he was credited with being a big factor in the pennant race that year. Stewart was reputed for his coaching abilities. He joined Anson’s Chicago team after leaving Sioux City.
