Michael C. Shine, 53, of Waikoloa, formerly of Sioux City, went home to be with his Savior and Lord Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018.

Services will be 4 p.m. today at Big Island Baptist Church, Keauhou Shopping Center to remember the life of Michael.

Michael was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 24, 1965, to Frederick Shine III and Gayle (Godwin) Shine. He grew up in Honolulu, where he met his wife of 30 years Kari (Korver) Shine, whom he loved more than words can describe. Michael and Kari were married in Sioux City and moved to several communities in Hawaii and Iowa during their 30 years of marriage.

Michael's wit, wisdom, loyalty, and generosity will forever be remembered in loving stories and joyful anecdotes by all those who ever met him.

He is survived by his wife, Kari; son, Logan (26) (Jackie) Shine of Des Moines; beautiful daughter, Shijan Shine (23) of Sioux City; father and stepmother, Fred and Pat Shine, of Honolulu; aunt, Kathy Shine, and sister, Terri Shine of Honolulu; father and mother-in-law, Dave and Jan Korver of Sioux City; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Gayle (Godwin) Shine; and grandparents, Fred and Anne Shine all of Honolulu.
