Sergeant Bluff

Eleanor Lucille Feiler, 93, of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sergeant Bluff.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil and rosary service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Eleanor was born on Aug. 11, 1925, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the daughter of William and Addie Byrne. She grew up in Wilmer, Minn., completing high school there. In 1943, she graduated from Mercy College of Nursing and then Briar Cliff College with a nursing degree in Sioux City in 1951.

She was employed with the Veterans Administration for 22 years and served at hospitals in Los Angeles, Calif., Omaha, and Sioux Falls. She retired in 1988. She married William Feiler in 1958 in Sioux City. He passed away in 1985.

Eleanor is survived by her sons, Joe (Julie) Feiler and James Feiler; daughters, Mary Feiler and Ann Marie Feiler (Robert) Evridge; grandchildren, Samuel Evridge, Cynica Feiler (Christian) Lango, and William Evridge; sister, Marie Pat Byrne; sister-in-law, Frances Byrne; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William and James; and sister-in-law, Ruth Byrne.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Carmelite Nuns of Sioux City.
