Richard E. "Dick" Mathison, 78, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 4, 2018, in Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, Iowa.

It was Richard’s wish to be cremated. There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Richard was born on July 11, 1940, in Sioux City, to Clarence and Gladys (Metcalf) Mathison. He attended Sioux City schools. He was married to Kelly Frank on May 5, 1970, in Sioux City.

He grew up in the Sioux City area. He had also lived in Seattle, Wash., for several years working as a hotel manager, before moving back to Sioux City 20 years ago. While in Sioux City, he worked as a bartender and bouncer, and was a taxicab driver until his retirement.

Richard enjoyed going to the Siouxland Senior Center.

He is survived by his three children, Catherine Mathison, Loralai Mosey, and Terri Hua, all of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Pflanz of Sioux City, and Delores Kennedy of Littleton, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Mathison; and his significant other, Donna Cagley.
