Lewis "Sonny" Gordon, 75, of Lawton, passed away at home on Oct. 4, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with Pastor Jim Thomas officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Floyd Township Cemetery at Bronson, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Sonny was born May 11, 1943, to Lewis W. and Marion (Harrington) Gordon in Portland, Maine.

On Jan. 13, 1968, Sonny was united in marriage to Alice Stanley in Sloan, Iowa.

Sonny owned Bronson Body Shop in Bronson, and worked most of his life in the body shop business until semi-retiring in 2005. He continued to do odds-and-ends jobs after retiring including painting house doors for quite a few people.

Sonny enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating and camping. Everyone that knew Sonny knows his main passion was cars, especially old cars, fast cars and drag racing. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Alice of 50 years; two sons, Bradley (Amy) of Perry, Iowa, and Michael (Jennifer Van Roekel) of Bronson; eight grandchildren, Amber, Cadie, Layce, Savannah, Zoe, Nathaniel, Jacob and Abigail; one brother, Clarence "Buddy" of Sioux City; two sisters, Patricia (Larry) Hildebrand of Tulsa, Okla., and Debby Gordon of Sioux City; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Kathleen L. Baird and Betty Mae.
