Donald D. Graves, 85, of Sioux City, died of natural causes on Sept. 25, 2018 at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Don was born on March 2, 1933, in Chatsworth, Iowa, to Hubert and Esther Graves. He graduated from a one room school with only an eighth grade education. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal during the Korean War as a combat engineer from 1950 to 1953.

On Nov. 5, 1954, he married Dorothy E. Wolf in South Sioux City. The two were married 50 years before she passed away on April 16, 2005. On Jan. 6, 2018, Don married Nancy L. Claypool of Sioux City in Alamo, Texas. He lived in Westfield, Iowa from 1964 to 2011, then moved to Sioux City with Nancy in 2011.

Don was an employee of Class Produce of Sioux City and then Midwestern Paper Co./Harris Janitor Supply of Sioux City for 23 years. Upon his retirement, Don started Graves Trucking. He owned and operated the business until he finally retired for good in 2016.

Don was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. His interests and hobbies included country music festivals, farming, trucking and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Nancy; sons, Dale, Doug and Dan; daughter, Donalee; 12 grandkids; and 21 great-grandbabies.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and siblings, Freeman, Raymond, Robert, Ernie, Jerry, and Iona.

Pallbearers will be Eric Graves, Derek Graves, Eric Kinnaman, Ashton Graves, Angie Graves and Amanda Graves.

Memorial donations should be sent to Hospice of Siouxland.
