Glenn J. Gubbels, 83, of Sioux City, entered into rest on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at Randolph, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Glenn J. Gubbels was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Randolph, Neb., the son of John and Mamie Gubbels. Glenn served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1953 to 1955 as part of the 108th Transport Company. He started in farming in the Randolph area. Later, he owned and operated Randolph Fertilizer with his partner and lifelong friend, Gordon Dennis. In 1969, Glenn went to work for Terra Industries in Sioux City, working over 30 years before retiring.

Glenn loved his family, kids and grandkids and fishing at every opportunity he could find. Glenn and Janelle (Colling) recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Janelle of Sioux City; his children, Timothy (Ebbie) Gubbels of Yankton, S.D., Ed Gubbels of Madiera Beach, Fla., Steve (deceased) and Marcia Gubbels of Randolph, Anita Petersen of Omaha, and Jim (Kristi) Gubbels of Bemidji, Minn. He was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mamie Gubbels; a son, Steven Gubbels; and a sister, Doris Gromley.

Pallbearers will be Glenn’s grandsons, Kenny Gubbels, Jacob Gubbels, Alex, Andrew and Greg Petersen, and Nicholas and Nathan Gubbels.
