Richard F. "Dick" Worden, 93, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at a local nursing facility.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present at 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Dick was born on Aug. 4, 1925, in Sioux City, son of Lloyd and Alice (Mansfield) Worden. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He attended Sioux City and Westfield Schools. Dick was a World War II Marine veteran, participating in action at Guam, Mariana Islands, Iwo Jima, and Volcano Islands before receiving his honorable discharge in December 1945.

Richard married Viola L. "Fitty" Maschmeier on April 15, 1946, and they truly lived happily ever after. She preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 1998.

Dick worked for Standard Ready Mix, Pal Transfer, and All American Freight until they closed. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Upon retirement, he drove for the Car Lot, Condon Motors, Lantis Fireworks, and for vacationing retirees traveling to Florida and Texas.

Dick loved to metal detect and brought home many treasures. He enjoyed spending time with Tom Garnett in his car repair shop. They had many deals through the years.

Those left to cherish Dick’s memory are daughter, Mary (Wade) Swords; grandchildren, Billy (Kerie) Worden, Kim Bowser, Dixie Worden, Troy and Mike Worden, Jeremy and Brad Winters; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnne Kinsey; brother, Mike; and his special friend, Puffy, the dog.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Viola "Fitty," sons, Dickie and Bobby; grandson, Bobby Jr., his parents; brothers, Bob, Jack and Eugene "Bugs"; and sisters, Mary Laski, Betty Winn, Dorothy Koslow and Lorraine White.

Special thanks to the staff at Westwood Care Initiatives, Hospice of Siouxland, and family friend, Kim Johnson, who took care of dad for many years after mom died.
