Dr. Crowder Dead at 71

Dr. Roy E. Crowder, 71, San Diego, Calif., a former Sioux City obstetrician and gynecologist, died Sunday in a San Diego hospital after an illness.

He was born Oct. 14, 1890, in Elk Point, and was graduated from Rush Medical College, Chicago, in 1920. He practiced in Sioux City from 1922 until 1941, when he entered the Navy. Upon his retirement from the Navy as a captain in 1958, he lived in San Diego. While in the service he was instrumental in setting up Naval residencies in obstetrics and gynecology.

During his practice in Sioux City, Dr. Crowder had offices in the Badgerow Building with Dr. J.D. Lutton.

Survivors include the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Janet Short of Garretson, S.D.; and a son, Roy Jr. of Los Angeles.
