Sandra Jean McCormick, 65, of Correctionville passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at her home surrounded by her family following a lengthy battle with cancer. Sandy was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Quimby, Iowa, the eldest daughter of Chester and Lylis (Witcombe) Sargent. She attended school in Quimby.

A celebration of her life was Monday, February 12. 2007, at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with Pastor Keith Byers and the Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery, rural Correctionville.

On Oct. 31, 1958, she was united in marriage to Alfred William "Bill" McCormick in Anthon, Iowa. The couple lived in California until 1962, when they moved to Danbury, Iowa. In 1965, they moved to Correctionville. One of Sandy's greatest blessings she experienced was the abundance of family and friends she had in her life. Her family was top priority and she invested so much of her time into their lives. She was a mom to her own and many others over her lifetime.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean McCormick of Correctionville, and Connie and her husband, Don Haahr of Smithland, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Tim and Loretta McCormick of Correctionville, and Anthony and Sally McCormick of Cushing, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Chris (Brandi) Mitchell, Ryan (Michelle) Bahrke, Joey Brownmiller, Stacy (Manuel) Jauregui, Lacey LaScala, Stephanie (Chris) Dullea, Tyler Haahr, Tim "Bubba," Krista and Adrian McCormick and Gregory and Gwindolyn McCormick; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; nine siblings, Marty, Chet, Judy, Karen, Brenda, Terry, Denny, Kelly and Karla; her best friend, Kevin Henderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, Greg McCormick.
