James Stuart Moser, 87, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018, at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenny Hsu of St. Paul's Lutheran officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

James Stuart Moser was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Larchwood, Iowa, the son of Paul and Lorene (Johnston) Moser. James graduated from Morningside College and received his master’s degree from Iowa State University. Mr. Moser was employed as a nuclear engineer with Westinghouse before his retirement in 1992. He married Betty Moran on June 5, 1949, in Sioux City.

In his free time, James enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, hunting, playing cards and board games.

Mr. Moser is survived by his wife. The couple would have celebrated 69 years of marriage on June 5 this year. He is also survived by one son, Chris and his wife, Sophia Moser of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one daughter, Cheryl Wheatcraft of Sioux City; one sister, Susan and her husband, Jerry Harris; daughter-in-law, Francis and her husband, Tom Lubash of Highland Park, Colo.; five grandchildren, Matthew Moser, Jami and her husband, Chad Langholdt, Bill Wheatcraft, Neal Moser, and Emily Moser and her fiancé, Author "Ace" Werner; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel; and two brothers, Michael and his wife, Karen, and infant brother, Eugene.
