Legs Cut Off, Child Is Dead
Five-Year-Old Girl Run Over by a Street Car While Coasting.

With both of her legs severed when run over by a speeding Riverside Street car at the Intersection of West Third and Sioux Streets Tuesday afternoon, Lorraine Lonseth, 5 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Engle Lonseth, 204 Sioux Street, died from loss of blood at the Samaritan Hospital five hours after the accident occurred.

The little girl had been coasting down the hill in front of her home and was attempting to stop her sled at the time of the accident. The sled struck the curbing and the child fell from it and slipped under the street car. The rear trucks of the car passed over the child’s legs, severing one at the knee and one a few inches below the knee.

Lorraine was picked up by H.D. Rollins, 426 Leonard Street, who was passing in an automobile and taken to the Samaritan Hospital.

The accident happened at 5:10 o’clock and the child passed away at 10:05 o’clock.

Surviving her, besides her parents, are three brothers, Leonard, Edward and Clayton. The body was removed to Perasso Bros. undertaking parlors, where it is being held pending funeral arrangements.
