Mrs. Sarah E. Pomeroy 1849 - 1939

Mrs. Sarah E. Pomeroy, who celebrated her 90th birthday anniversary February 19, died Thursday night in the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. W. Duncan, 3306 Third Avenue.

The nonagenarian moved to Sioux City in 1910 from New York State where she was born in 1849. After her husband’s death in 1918 she moved to Allen, Nebraska and returned to Sioux City in 1926.

She was married to William H. Pomeroy at Spring Valley, Wisconsin, November 1, 1868. About a year later they located on a homestead a mile north of Allen where they resided until 1899. Then they located at Allen and moved to Sioux City 11 years later.

Pallbearers will be Fred Griffiths, Kenneth O’Dea. Gerald Dye, Edward McCarthy, Robert Stone and Craig Dunlavy.
