Reuben Lindberg Died 1939

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon for Reuben Lindberg, 46, eldest of three bachelor brothers who operate a dairy farm east of Morningside on the Denison highway. He was found dead in one of the cattle barns Thursday afternoon.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the Nelson-Berger Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. in Augustana Lutheran Church, of which he was a member and trustee. Rev. A.P. Westerberg will officiate. Mr. Lindberg also was a member of Monahan Post of the American Legion which will conduct graveside services in Graceland Cemetery.

It was 32 months ago to the day Thursday that Mr. Lindberg’s father died. Sixteen months later to the day his mother succumbed.

David and Phillip, the other two brothers, had been absent from the farm two hours and when they returned at 3 p.m., David found the body of his brother behind a line of cows. It was at first thought possible Reuben had been kicked by a cow but investigation by Dr. J.M. Krigsten, County Coroner, revealed no sign of a blow. Leo Naughton, deputy of Sheriff William R. Tice, also investigated.

Dr. Krigsten said death probably was caused by a heart attack. Mr. Lindberg several years ago suffered a stroke.

Survivors besides the two brothers with whom he operated the farm are two sisters and another brother.
