Monroe Bentley 1893 - 1939

Monroe Bentley, 45, of 616 West Sixth, brakeman for the Illinois Central, died Saturday morning in a local hospital after an illness of two days. The body will be sent to Cherokee, Iowa, Saturday night by Rutledge’s Funeral Home for funeral services and burial.

Mr. Bentley, who moved here from Cherokee three years ago, was born November 5, 1893 at Rushville, Iowa. He was a member of the Trainmen’s Brotherhood.

Survivors include his widow, Letha, three daughters, Wilma Jean, Patsy Lou and Donna Joan, all at home; two brothers, Frank Bentley of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Walter Bentley of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two sisters, Velda Bentley of Cedar Falls and Dora Bentley of Ohio and his mother, Mrs. Flora Bentley of Cedar Falls.
