Mrs. Anna Anthony 1847 - 1939

Mrs. Anna Anthony, 91, resident here 50 years, died Saturday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. O.J. Kellogg, 2015 West Fourth. Death was attributed to infirmities of old age.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Christy’s Morningside Chapel. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Born September 9, 1847 at Masillon, Ohio, Mrs. Kellogg moved to Tama County near Plaine, Iowa, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hildenbrand. She was married to John Anthony at Vonton, Iowa, in 1869 and subsequently moved to Monture and Boone, both in Iowa coming to Sioux City in 1889. Her husband preceded her in death October 9, 1936. A daughter, Mrs. P. G.Moerke of Flandreau, South Dakota, died two years ago.

Mrs. Anthony was a member of the Haddock Memorial Church when it was in existence here.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Kellogg, Mrs. F.H. Beck and Mrs. Dorothy Tiffany of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great - great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Spencer of Willow Springs, Missouri.
