Mr. Dwight, who had resided in Sioux City the last half century, died Tuesday night in a local hospital after a lingering illness.

Born April 29, 1852 in Ogle county, Illinois, Mr. Dwight started studing telegraphy at Oregon, Illinois, in 1871 and in a few months was stationed at Marcus, Iowa as station agent for the Illinois Central. He was married to Lillian Washburn of Raymond, Iowa. In 1875 and in 1881 they moved to Davison County, South Dakota, where he engaged in the retail lumber business.

Later he located on a claim eight miles south of Mount Vernon. The original government patent on that land was in his possession at the time of death. Mr. Dwight had engaged in the grain business several times and organized the Dwight-Terwilliger Grain Company which did business in Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa.

In 1889 he came to Sioux City where he had since resided. Besides Tyrian Lodge, he was a member of Sioux City Consistory and Abu-Bekr Shrine.

Survivors include his widow; a granddaughter, Mrs. Glenn Bierman of Sioux City and a grandson, Harvey McDowell of Worthington, Minnesota.
